Transition to School

We are lucky to be a feeder setting for many local schools.

We provide handover information to the relevant teachers and welcome the teachers to visit the children at Puddleducks so they have a chance to meet each other within our setting where the child is settled and happy, giving the teachers an ability to see them in a similar social situation to school.

Many of our children go on to attend Harnham Infant School, which is on the same site as Puddleducks. Regular meetings between the Pre-School Manager and the Head of Early Years at the school are held to assist transition.

During the Summer Term, children who are due to start at the Harnham Infant school in September spend time in the Reception classrooms and outside areas to familiarise themselves with the new setting. Children who are attending other schools spend time in Harnham |nfants playground and outside areas, exploring what their new school may have that is similar etc.

We have put together a selection of books that explore starting school, there is a wide variety of styles and cover lots of different topics.

Simply select the story you would like to listen to and this will then direct you to our YouTube page where you can hear one of the team read the story.

If you would like any help or information regarding transition to school, please do get in touch with us.
